Dr. Zenator Agyeman-Rawlings, the Member of Parliament representing the Korle Klottey constituency, has addressed the increasing speculation surrounding her potential selection as the running mate for former President John Mahama in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
While expressing her appreciation for the consideration, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings emphasized that the ultimate decision rests solely with the former President. She remarked, “It is indeed a captivating responsibility that serves as a reminder of the paramount importance of maintaining integrity in all my pursuits. However, let’s refrain from prematurely drawing conclusions,” during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen program on Monday.
Dr. Zenator emphasized her current dedication to her role as an MP, underscoring her primary responsibility to ensure the success of the NDC in the upcoming elections. When asked whether she considers herself a suitable candidate for another position, she evaded the question.
Former President Mahama faces immense pressure to select a running mate, as NDC experts and supporters present their preferred candidates, while others advocate for retaining the 2020 candidate, Prof. Jane Naan Opoku-Agyeman.
However, a significant number believe that a new running mate could be a pivotal factor for the NDC in the 2024 elections.
Ultimately, the final decision rests with Mr. Mahama and the NDC leadership.
