Private school teachers are helpless and we need the government to intervene in the business of GNACOPS

The Government must come to the aid of private school teachers because they are suffering in the hands of the so called Ghana National Council of Private Schools. This Association has used many means to milk the peanut teachers get from the poor teaching job through organization of illegal CCP Programme and now Volunteer Teachers saga.

GNACOPS is illegally taken Ghc60 from the poor private school teachers for Volunteer Teacher position instead of a teacher claiming will support us financially to further Education, then why taken Ghc60

EDUCATION ON WHO A TEACHER IS AND WHO A VOLUNTEER TEACHER IS

Do you want to be an employed teacher or you want to be a volunteer teacher?

Is there any difference in the two?

If you are employed as a teacher, you have the right to negotiate for your salary and other entitlements

What about a Volunteer teacher?

A volunteer teacher do not receive full compensation but instead volunteer their services to gain experience in the expectation of being hired full-time when a vacancy arises.

Since a volunteer teacher doesn’t receive full salary, then he or she will be denied the following:

A. SSNIT Contributions
B. Tier 2
C. Entitlements (e.g. school welfare, friday) take home
D. Etc

As a volunteer teacher, you are denied many benefits irrespective of the verbal agreement and promises the employer will make

Due to this, I advise all private school teachers not to enter into agreement with their employers as volunteer teachers
