Romelu Lukaku will be undergoing medical tests before heading back to Stamford Bridge later this week.
The striker got a yellow card in Belgium’s game last night and will miss their last game before the break ends. However, he has a minor fitness issue that needs to be addressed before he returns to Chelsea.
He told HLN after last night’s game: “I’ll have a scan of my thigh first. I have been struggling with a minor issue for a while. Then I will return to Chelsea.”
The striker seems to be saying that he should be fine to play for Chelsea, but we will have to wait and see if he can be started against Aston Villa.
The game is set to take place on September 11 – if Lukaku’s scan comes back positive, he is sure to start. We should get more news on this in Thomas Tuchel’s pre-game press conference
